General
=======

1) DICE pilot service

We are pleased to announce the availability of DICE pilot service.

There is a central machine available for remote logging in and each
site will have one or more machines that users can sit down in
front off to test out interaction with the default environment
   (KDE).

Although DICE is being used on a daily basis the pilot is not
intended to be a general service yet as there are still known
issues. However, if after your initial excursion into the DICE
world you wish to volunteer for more regular use, contact your
local support team about getting a DICE machine. We want to create
a test group who we can monitor closely and give prompt assistance
   to during the early stages.

Since one of the most difficult aspects to test is scale we are
going to be introducing users gradually so we can monitor the
   impact.

If you want to have access to the pilot service you will need to
get a password from your local support people. Since we want to
control the pilot fairly carefully we would like to hand out paper
documentation with the passwords in the early stages to make sure
that users are aware of the circumstances of the pilot. (NB: at BP
we won't be handling requests until Monday 15/7 as our CSO is
   away).
