The Dice Project

Distributed Informatics Computing Environment - Development

Formerly called the Division of Informatics Computing Environment, DICE is the project to develop a new computing infrastructure to support the research, teaching and administrative requirements of the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh

Started in February 2000, it builds on work already done in relation to large-scale automatic machine configuration and management for the former Department of Computer Science, now part of the School.

These web pages contain a lot of useful technical documentation about the architecture and development of DICE. However, for more general user-friendly documentation about DICE which has been tailored specifically for new and existing users in the School of Informatics you would do better to look at the Informatics computer systems page.
